Bodystat 1500 Software: How It Works, What It Measures, and Why You Need It

The Bodystat1500 is a lightweight, hand-held, battery operated Bio-impedance Analyser which is easy to use and requires no specialist skills. It is a non-invasive device, which measures the impedance value of the body providing quick and effective analysis of body composition. Whole Body analysis, rather than partial body analysis of arms or legs only, is measured for greater accuracy.

Bodystat 1500 software

The Bodystat 1500 model is the standard body composition monitor giving accurate statistics for body fat, lean muscle mass and hydration. It is the most popular device used in the gyms and by personal trainers (optional extras include advanced software to maximise the motivational aspect of the results)

Little or no training is required to use a Bodystat 1500. Whilst the person being measured is lying down, four electrodes (two on the hands and two on the feet) are attached to lead wires. Age, weight, height and gender input details are added and after 3 seconds all body composition results and metabolic rate information display on the screen.

The Bodystat 1500MDD is the advanced version of the Bodystat 1500 with added functions such as cellular health and nutritional status monitoring. It is the machine of choice for Dietitians and Nutritionists.

The Bodystat MDD works the same way as the Bodystat 1500, using 4 electrodes, the subject is lying down, and the measurement results are available within seconds. The MDD comes with body composition and hydration software for a full analysis of the subjects cellular health, nutrition status and overall fitness and health.

Methods: The sample consisted of eleven male, professional cricket bowlers (mean SD, 27 5.61 years; stature: 1.77 0.07 m; mass: 72.09 10.89 kg) currently playing for a team in the Indian Premier League cricket competition. Both bowling disciplines (seam and spin) as well as all-rounders were considered for the investigation. Workload data was obtained using Microzone data capturing software and was reduced into total weekly workload and total cumulative workload. The match was gathered from ESPN CricInfo. Match data included; overs bowled, runs conceded, wickets taken, bowling economy, dot balls bowled, 4's conceded, 6's conceded, wides bowled. The performance data and match data were used to establish relationships between workloads and performance related data.

Methods: Participants are a total of 96 children (53 girls and 43 boys; mean age of 7.71.23) who are part of a larger cross-sectional study aimed at determining body composition using stable isotope technique (BC-IT). Body mass index (BMI) was calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Body fat percentage was assessed using stable dilution techniques (D2O) and BIA (Bodystat 1500 MDD). ActiGraph accelerometer (Model GT3X-BT) determine PA for a minimum of 10 hours/day for seven consecutive days. PA data was then categories into sedentary PA ( 100 counts per minute), moderate PA (>2296 counts per minute), vigorous PA (> 4012 counts per minute) and moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA). Descriptive statistics and independent sample t-test for gender difference were performed by SPSS program. Correlation coefficients (r) were used to determine the relationship between physical activity and body composition.

Methods: Purpose of the study is to explore the perceptions of physical activity participation among students in the University of Western Cape. The study will use a qualitative ethnographic design to collect data from participants using semi-structured one-on-one interviews. Purposeful sampling method will be used to select 8 participants for the study to collect data. The study interviews will be a minimum of 30 minutes, which, will be recorded using a digital recorder and transcribed verbatim. Open coding will be applied when analysing the transcribed data through ATLAS.ti software programme. Trustworthiness of the study will be accomplished using credibility, transferability, dependability and conformability methods. The study will seek permission to collect data from the University of the Western Cape research ethics committee. Participation in this study will be purely voluntary, and participants will be advised that should they wish to withdraw from the study, this will be allowed without prejudice on the study. The study will not publish participants' personal details, and in cases of names, pseudonym names will be used in place of participants' names.
